As we approach the middle of our 2014 Husker Football season, Trey Mytty and Truck Center Companies (TCC), are once again cheering on the Huskers in a unique and surprising way. Mytty, the CEO and President of TCC, is currently in his third season supporting the Nebraska Football team by generously donating to the Bo Pelini Foundation each time the Huskers score. Mytty’s company donates $250 for each Husker touchdown, field goal and safety. “We’re excited to help the Bo Pelini Foundation raise funds for its charities,” Mytty said.
Coach Pelini targets many of the same charities that TCC does, primarily focusing on children who are battling life threatening illnesses. We are glad to help.”
The Husker’s offense was very explosive last season, scoring a total of 51 touchdowns and 12 field goals. As a result, last season TCC donated a total of $15,750. Both TCC and the Bo Pelini Foundation were extremely proud of the number of drives ending with a score.
This season, with a total of six games complete and six games to still go, the Husker offense has been extremely productive, giving Mytty and the BPF a reason to smile upon the conclusion of each game. The highest scoring games for the Huskers this season, thus far, have occurred both at home and away. In the season opener on August 30 against Florida Atlantic, the Huskers put up 55 points, and scored the same amount again on the road against Fresno State on September 13. From those two games alone, TCC pledged $4,500 to the Bo Pelini Foundation, bringing the running total for the 2014 season to $10,250.
After the completion of last season, combined with the 2012 season’s total donation of $19,250, TCC will have donated approximately $36,000 to the Bo Pelini Foundation. If the Husker offense keeps producing as they have, the final number could set a new record for the partnership between TCC and the Bo Pelini Foundation.
With donations from TCC, the Bo Pelini Foundation will continue to support nonprofit organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer and juvenile and adult diabetes, as well as programs which advance opportunities for disadvantaged children, particularly young people growing up in Nebraska. In 2013, the Bo Pelini Foundation hit its goal of distributing at least one-half million dollars in its first five years with a current grand total of $501,462.21. This great accomplishment would not have been possible without the generosity of companies like TCC.
When commenting on the impact that TCC donations have had overall on the Bo Pelini Foundation, Coach Pelini said, "The Truck Center Companies and Trey Mytty have been phenomenal and have made a major impact in terms of what our foundation has been able to do in our community. It simply wouldn’t be possible for us to raise the amount of money we have raised without these types of generous donations. We sincerely appreciate TCC and our partnership."
